The Principal’s Perspective

The built environment is both an experience and an operating asset.

My approach to interiors was shaped in environments where execution, accountability, communication, timing, and stakeholder confidence mattered. Before founding Adorn, I worked across complex corporate and institutional settings that required cross-functional coordination, market strategy, contract awareness, relationship management, and disciplined follow-through.

That background continues to influence how I approach design. I do not view a property as a collection of rooms waiting to be decorated. I look at how the space functions, how decisions will be governed, how resources will be allocated, how vendors will be coordinated, and how the final environment should support comfort, credibility, use, and long-term value.

Professional Foundation

Commercial discipline brought into the design process.

Over the course of my career, I have worked in roles involving institutional accounts, regulated industries, market development, operational coordination, real estate environments, and complex stakeholder relationships.

These experiences developed a working style grounded in preparation, documentation, communication, risk awareness, decision sequencing, and responsibility for outcomes.

Cross-functional leadership Experience coordinating across internal teams, external stakeholders, institutional decision-makers, service providers, and complex operating environments.
Commercial and contractual awareness A disciplined understanding of how scope, expectations, responsibilities, timing, documentation, and vendor relationships affect the success of a project.
Property and asset sensitivity An approach that considers not only the appearance of a space, but also its intended use, operational context, presentation, adaptability, and long-term relevance.
Principal accountability A direct, hands-on model in which design direction, major decisions, client communication, and project strategy remain closely connected to the firm’s principal.

Ashley Clayborne

Director of Operations & Project Delivery
Ashley brings an artist’s perspective and an analytical approach to Adorn Interiors. Her background spans program management, business operations, technical systems, and fine art, connecting creative ideas with the organization and precision required to bring them to life.
At Adorn, Ashley combines creative judgment, technical fluency, and operational discipline to support thoughtful design, organized project delivery, and a consistent client experience.

Operations & Project Delivery

Working closely with Principal Ro Ingram-Harvey, Ashley contributes to design development, project planning, and business operations. Her work encompasses project budgets, schedules, documentation, and the development of complex workbooks and databases that keep information accessible and decisions well supported. She approaches visual and technical challenges with curiosity, resourcefulness, and careful attention to detail.

Compliance & Process Leadership

Her operations experience includes managing compliance programs, coordinating contractors, administering budgets, improving processes, and reporting for regulatory audits. She supported the transition of three compliance programs into their respective business units by developing the documentation and workflows required for continued operation.

Team Leadership & Systems

Her broader experience includes team coordination, recruitment, onboarding, training, and operational problem-solving in high-volume environments. She has resolved system and inventory issues, guided employees through established procedures, and worked with leadership to align staffing with productivity and quality goals. These responsibilities strengthened her ability to organize complex work, communicate across teams, and support consistent execution.

Creative Practice

An exceptional artist, Ashley brings a practiced sensitivity to color, composition, and materials. As a Creative Arts Assistant at Marie Valdez Studios, she helped prepare and teach painting workshops in college, gallery, and studio settings. Her own artwork has been exhibited at Lone Star College and the Houston Art Crawl, reflecting a longstanding commitment to visual expression.
The Adorn Standard

Strategy, stewardship, and aesthetic integrity.

Adorn’s work is guided by three connected disciplines. None is treated as secondary, because an effective interior must be well considered, well managed, and beautifully resolved.

01

Institutional Strategy

Complex homes and professional environments require more than aesthetic instinct. They require clear priorities, defined responsibilities, sequenced decisions, realistic expectations, and professional communication. Adorn applies an institutional mindset to the project lifecycle so that design choices are made within a more stable framework.
02

Strategic Stewardship

Stewardship means remaining attentive to the client’s objectives, investment priorities, approved direction, schedule, and project continuity. Adorn helps organize selections, procurement decisions, vendor communication, and implementation considerations so the work remains connected to its intended outcome.
03

Aesthetic Integrity

Operational clarity without beauty is incomplete. Adorn develops interiors through proportion, materiality, rhythm, comfort, architectural context, and thoughtful curation. The objective is a space that feels refined and personal—not generic, overdecorated, or disconnected from the people who use it.
A Different Client Experience

Creative direction, coordinated delivery, and clear accountability.

Clients work with Adorn because they want creative judgment supported by structure. Ro leads the work alongside Ashley and the Adorn team, keeping the project’s goals, design direction, decision logic, and communication standards connected throughout the engagement.

That standard is reinforced through ongoing coaching across the team so every contributor learns to evaluate design, documentation, communication, and delivery from the principal’s perspective. Ashley provides important behind-the-scenes leadership in that work, helping translate expectations into the systems and practices that support consistent execution across current and future team roles.

This is particularly important when the property carries financial significance, public visibility, organizational importance, family history, operational demands, or multiple stakeholders.

What the approach is designed to provide

Direct leadership from Ro in the project’s strategic and design direction
Clearer alignment among scope, priorities, investment expectations, and implementation needs
A defined decision framework rather than an open-ended shopping process
Greater attention to documentation, communication, sourcing, and procurement sequencing
Design recommendations evaluated through both aesthetic and practical considerations
A more composed client experience from inquiry through closeout and continuity
Where This Perspective Applies

Refined environments for private, professional, institutional, and property stakeholders.

Adorn’s principal-led, team-supported model is designed for clients whose interiors require more than decorative support. Adorn serves projects where function, comfort, credibility, presentation, discretion, or long-term property use materially influence the design decisions.
